Halina Leung – Piano Lessons Sydney Eastern Suburbs CBD
Dr Halina Leung is an Australian pianist, researcher, teacher and lecturer. She has given recitals in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, England, U.S.A., Japan, Indonesia and Australia. She has performed in prestigious concert venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York and the Sydney Opera House.
Halina attained her AMEB Licentiate Diploma in Piano at the age of 15 and received full marks in her HSC Music Extension. Receiving music scholarships consecutively every year (1998-2019) from music institutions and organisations, her musical talent and passion for classical piano music have been showcased in Australia and overseas. Halina has won over 200 first prizes in national piano competitions, among these prizes are 30 open piano championships (including all piano championships in Sydney), 4 piano recital awards and Kawai Piano Award. Her international successes include First Prize in the Golden Classical Music Award (U.S.A.), First Price in the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition (Paris), Absolute First Prize in the 14th Don Vincenzo Vitti International Music Competition (Italy), First Prize in the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition (Piano and Instrumental Section) and Third Prize in the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition (Open Section). In addition, Halina was the winner of the West Illawarra Wave FM Youth Achievement Awards for Achievement in the Arts (2010 and 2011), Second Prize Winner in the Australian Society for Keyboard Music Open Piano Competition (2012), Finalist of the Allison/Henderson Piano Scholarship in Sydney Eisteddfod (2011) and State Finalist in the 2MBS Young Performers Award (2011). Her performances have been broadcasted live on ABC and 2MBS Classic FM.
She has studied the piano under Dr Kirill Monorosi, Grant Foster and James Powell (OAM), and performed in piano masterclasses conducted by Jean-Philippe Collard (France), Adolfo Barabino (United Kingdom), Prof Christian Müller (Germany), Prof Reinhold Günter (Germany), Sara Davis Beuchner (Canada), Ian Munro (Australia) and Dr Marilyn Meier (Australia).
Halina was awarded her PhD in Music Performance in 2019 from the University of New South Wales. Her research focused on piano pedagogy and European national piano schools. Her repertoire encompasses works from Renaissance to 21st century, and her research specializes in French piano music of the 20th century.
Halina has given lectures at the University of New South Wales and is an experienced teacher both children and adults, from beginners to advanced tertiary level music students. She is dedicated to teaching the next generation of musicians to help them develop their skills, learn to enjoy the art of playing or to prepare them for a career in music.
Halina is currently teaching students at their homes in the following suburbs of Sydney:
